Tickle your Taste Buds with the Taste of Joburg 2013 - Bring your Apetite! It's sure to wet your palate

If you haven't yet been... What are you waiting for?? The vibe is absolutely amazeballs and there are lots and lots of free-bees!

Scoot your bum down to Monte Casino and you can buy tickets at the door for only R80. This includes an awesome one of kind taste of Joburg wine glass and a custom taste of Joburg Pick 'n Pay shopping bag.

This year, with Orbit being a sponsor in conjunction with Pick 'n Pay, I must say, after all the tasting, drinking and eating we need, my poor pearly whites were really in need of the free Orbit gum that was being dished out.

Some of the things I really enjoyed and that were new to the Taste of Joburg was the Lindt and the Jack Daniels exhibits. These were the two that I really enjoyed most! We got to eat fresh Lindt chocolate as the fine Swiss chocaltiers did what they do best right in front of my eyes! One of the Lindt promoters actually laughed when I said I feel like I'm in heaven :) LOL

The Jack Daniels exhibit was also quite popular as they promoted and quite fun and creatively so, their new and absolutely YUMMO brand of Jack Daniels honey. They also had another two variations which my memory has now failed to remember. But it's a definite must have if you're going. How it works is that the pretty lady promoters give you a card and when there's a seat open at the Jack Daniels bar, and receive a free shot thereafter you play a customised version of Black Jack. Everyone gets to pick a card from the dealer (there's only Jack's and a Joker). All the Jack's have a flavour written on them and you get to taste that particular flavour on your chosen card. If you were luck enough to get the Joker, you win a bottle of Jack :) and my sister was fortunate enough to win YAY!

There are also fun cooking classes at the Pick 'n Pay tent, but be sure to get there early as it is quite popular so make a booking before walking around to the rest of the exhibits. One of the other cool things is also the Consol Mixology class, quite pricey but defo worth it as you make 5 cocktails :)

Below is the most nommiest thing ever!! Beetroot (I know but it was delish!) blue cheese and goats cheese with a crispy rye cracker bread.

Some of the other fun and exhibits included Beefcakes restaurant, Fry's Soya Products, Dermalogica (a really nommy nuts and seeds place (just look for it), Simmonsburg cheese, and Nederburg wines.

Make sure you bring your appetite to the Taste of Joburg. It's sure to wet your palate!!

Hints and Tips:

Try to win tickets off a few blogs - they are usually lots of giveaways

If you dont win tickets, buy tickets off  itickets in advance for R50

Wear flat shoes as you will be doing lots of walking :)

Make sure you grab a free bag at the entrance as it is useful to put all the awesome goodies you purchase

Buy crowns - This is the monetary system utilised at the Taste of Joburg and is definitely worth it. 1 Crown = R5

Don't feel shy to taste and ask about the product on exhibit - It is the TASTE of Joburg afterall

Look out for the Taste of Christmas toward December.. It's just as good as the Taste of Joburg and even better!!
