History creates meaning and one can learn from it despite how *meh* it can be at times. I often think about identity and how one would go about describing oneself. I find myself at many times wondering (I day dream from time to time) how one should respond to the question "Who are you". My name simply constitutes a part of my identity.

Diamond Rings and other things... If you were wondering why I chose the title then read on I say, read on! :D Having been born in April, my birthstone is the diamond. Being born and having things start a new does carry certain symbolizations and connotations with it and so I knew the title had to be fitting with something "new" to me. Rings are also symmetrical and signify commitment (hehe commitment to an awsome blog) and are never ending. Have you ever just taken your ring off and looked through it with one eye *like some sort of pirate lol!* it gives you a new perspective to the things around you.

 I've always been fascinated with different types of crystles and gems (not to mention the common garden pebble). You have to admit, when done correctly, gardens look UH-MAZING with those gorgeous pebble features. I've done a pebble feature at our home in Middelburg but unfortunately I dont have a picture of it to upload just yet, although I will soon :) *watch this space*

Gems and beads and crystals also signify heritage and roots. I mean this in terms of being of Indian descent. India is rich in precious metals and stones and Indian jewellery in specific are always fascinators. Diamond Rings and gems also signify value and treasure. Something precious and something new amongst other things! "A diamond in the rough" which is what my blog is :) Soon it will be polished with some interesting new features and life journeys assembled together with little trinkets and bells!

Sometimes we just need to rid ourselves of the hustle and bustle of city life for some QT and downtime. I always enjoy going to the Stoffberg area in Mpumalanga as my parents have a farm there and its close to Middelburg where I spend most of my holidays. Last Christmas, some close family friends accompanied my family and I to the uBhetyan-O-Africa Lion Park/Game Reserve. It was fantastic!! Ive been to the Lion Park in Magaliesburg and although that one is amazing, it hardly compares to this one. For a recently built park it is beautiful, secluded and a wonderful experience for little children and adults. The park is equipped with lovely thatch chalets and state of the art showers and Jacuzzis. Nostalgic

Soo many memories come rushing back to me as I type this. First year (of university that is) seems so distant. Relaxing on the lawns at campus today reminded me of how time passes buy so quickly. It felt amazing! I've learnt soo much and cherished so many good times with lots of friends and people I've met at campus. Being at Wits has not only allowed me to grow as a person but also enjoy the good times of student life! Basking in the sun, the occasional off campus shopping spree, chill sessions at the Bio-Soc on Fridays and much more! I think what aided to my feelings of Nostalgia was the epic return of Rascals (not so epic for me as I soon read the lable and saw that the product contained Beef gelatin) *sigh. Rascals were super awesome when I was younger. Whether it be nail polish metallic, neon's, or pastels, glitter animal print wraps, nail art stickers and gems or the classic french manicure, taking care of your nails just gives your whole appearance that unique pop at times and can be the perfect accessory. I recently read about a cheap and effective rather quick and interesting method called "news paper nails". Here's a step by step method on how you can use news paper laying around in your house for some gorgeous nails. The Merch (merchandise) aka what you will need (felt so gangster typing merch lol) Rubbing alcohol ( normal vodka will do) Squares of newspaper, cut to rectangular pieces to fit your nails White/light pink/nude nail polish (I used a light candy floss pink.) Clear nail polish to glaze over A small dish/cup SO once you've got the merch .. the fun begins!
